Routes Avoiding Houston to the East
• Use your GPS to find the route from your destination to TX-65 E near Winnie, TX
• Travel east on TX-65 E to TX-124 S/Gulfway Dr.
• Turn right on TX-124 S
• Drive south for 45 miles
• Take the Port Bolivar – Galveston Ferry to Galveston
Routes Avoiding Houston to the South
• Use your GPS to find the route from your destination to Hwy 6 S near Sugar Land, TX
• Travel south on Hwy 6 S for 49 miles
• Merge onto I-45 S
• Stay on I-45 S for approximately 5 miles to Galveston
Directions to Galveston from Dallas
The fastest route from Dallas/Fort Worth is almost as easy as traveling from Houston. The distance to Galveston, Texas from Dallas is 289 miles of freeway driving.
Travel I-45 S for approximately 286 miles into Galveston.

If you prefer not to drive from Dallas to Galveston, it’s a short flight to Houston-Hobby Airport. From there, choose one of several shuttle options or rent a car for the duration of your vacation.

Follow the directions below for a 3.5-hour drive through scenic rural Texas that avoids toll roads.
• Take I-35 S
• Use the second lane from the right to take exit 230 for TX-71 E
• Stay on TX-71 E for approximately 87 miles toward I-10
• Merge onto I-10 E
• Travel 76 miles into Houston
• Take exit 768B for I-45 South toward Galveston
• Stay on I-45 S for 49 miles into Galveston
• Choose one of the following exits:

If you prefer a shorter travel time, travel by plane from AUS to the Houston Hobby Airport (HOU).
The YELLOW DOOR BEACH HOME is located in Galveston’s Midtown area. The home is located a short 4-minute car ride to Galveston’s Seawall.
YES, Pets under 50lbs are allowed under the following conditions; -There is a $200 deposit plus a $75 cleaning charge per dog. Maximum 2 dogs allowed. WHEN AWAY IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU CRATE YOUR PET IF BEING LEFT ON PROPERTY– we do not provide crates. Guests are responsible for bringing the crate(s). MANAGEMENT HAS THE RIGHT TO CANCEL A RESERVATION IF WE FIND THE PET DESTRUCTIVE, NOT HOUSE-TRAINED, OR EXCESSIVE BARKING.
No smoking in the house. Smoking is allowed on the patios, and an ashtray is provided for butts. Do not dispose of butts in the bushes or grass.
Yellow Door Beach Home has something to offer year round. The Summer time does have the best weather and you can make the most of the beach.
In Winter, the outdoor fire pit or the spacious 6 person hot tub makes it a cozy oasis to watch the winter storms roll in, and make the most of the quieter tourist times on the island

STORM POLICY:
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. No refunds will be given unless The National Weather Service or a Government Agency orders mandatory evacuations. Dates of rentals are guaranteed (exception: Act of God, e.g. fire, mandatory evacuation due to hurricane, flash flooding). In the event of loss of power and/or Internet, or any other “out of our control” event due to any type of storm we will not grant refunds. Texas weather in the summer can be very unpredictable. We recommend travel insurance whenever possible during these months. Check with your local insurance provider for details on your options.
Our rates are seasonal. Depending on the time of the year, the rate may be as low as $199 per night but in the peak season we generally have an average price per night of $299

You took trains, planes, or automobiles and hours of travel to get here. There’s no need to waste your precious vacation time waiting in line or scouring the grocery store’s aisles; arrive at your vacation rental with a fully stocked kitchen and refrigerator.
